The first day!

First day of college- Check.

I started my morning with waking up and going to breakfast! After we went to the Opening Convocation. All of the faculty walked out in their caps and gowns and sat before us. It was quite intimidating. But then, we had to stand before them and they welcomed us into their college. Needless to say, it was such a cool and wonderful feeling. Being welcomed into such an amazing college with such amazing students and staff. It will be a great four years!

Beanie Toss 2012
Then, we went out to Olin Hill and did the annual Beanie toss! For the rest of the day I felt kind of empty without it. Not to mention I felt like a lost puppy at lunch. I had no clue who to sit with or what the heck I was doing. And I thought I was ready!

After the Beanie toss I had my first class. I found out that my first class in college was my last class in high school. Public Speaking in Alex, but at Concordia it is called Oral Communication. We were already assigned homework! UGH! I guess that's college for you! Thanks Mrs. Dokter for preparing me so much for this class. It's all the same speech topics we did! It will be great!

My second, and final, class of the day started right after lunch. Leadership for Sustainability. What the heck is that? I honestly feel more confused this evening about this class than I did going into it! Oh well, YOLO you know?

I just wanted to keep you all updated on my day and what all went on! It wasn't scary once I got in there but I was very nervous this morning! Thank you for all the Facebook messages, texts, and prayers. It really made my first day of college go smoothly!

First Week- Done, Orientation- EKKKK!!!

The Concordia Bell Tower! Never walk under it!
Hey everyone! It has been a crazy couple days! My move in went very and very fast. But for the first couple days, I hardly had any room in my dorm! No lofts= No space! The first week of dance practices were very fun! We learned all 5 of the "Sidelines" which are performed during pep band songs at football and basketball games. On Thursday and Friday we had technique from 5:30-9:30. Can you say INTENSE? However, it was very helpful and the things I learned will help greatly during the season.

My roommate moved in on Saturday and I LOVE HER! She is the best roommate ever! So easy going and doesn't talk too much! That night we had a Hunger Games party in our room with a couple other people and that was so fun!

Orientation... Where do I start? Such a hectic time! I am in Club 15- We All Live In A Yellow Submarine. The welcome show on Sunday evening was so awesome, so funny, and a great way to spend the first night with all my classmates!

Breonna, my roommate, and I at Cabaret on Monday night!
Monday morning we all got up at 7:00 and went out to areas around the FM area and did a service project for about 2 hours. My club went to the South Ronald McDonald house. We didn't help with any of the residents, but we washed the windows and the toys in their very cute Tree House Toy Room. If I do volunteering during school, which I really want to do, I want to go back there and do more for them! At the closing ceremony, they told us that the reason the first day at Concordia, we went out and did a service project, was because of Concordia's mission: The purpose of Concordia College is to influence the affairs of the world by sending into society thoughtful and informed men and women dedicated to the Christian life. After a much needed break, we went to a talent show that the upperclassmen put on called "Cabaret." I cannot believe the talent that our school has! I am so blessed to be surrounded by so many amazingly talented people!

Today, we have been learning all about the academic side of Concordia. Although boring, the information I have been hearing about is very helpful and will be useful during school!

I have been enjoying wearing my beanie! It is so fun to finally have one of my own! :) That's all for now friends! Thanks for following me! More later!

A last week with my best friends!

This week I had a great time getting together with some of the special people in my life.

Dancin' Off Broadway Owner, Jackie Noetzleman and I.
Eclipse Studio Dance Competition April 2012
Sunday afternoon, I was asked to come in and help sort shoes at the dance studio! It was so much fun to be back at the studio with Jackie and to hear what has been going on. I love dance and can't wait to come back for the shows!

Maggie and I. June 2011
Monday afternoon, I grabbed a smoothie with miss Maggie. She was the first little girl I ever babysat and now she has grown into a beautiful 13 year old. It was so much fun to catch up with her and hear all about what is happening in her life. I will miss her so much next year but will always come back to see her sassy self on stage! :)

Anna, Aleah, and I. August 2012
Jackson and I. April 2011!
On Wednesday evening, the two little girls I babysit, Anna and Aleah, along with their mom, Karen, came over for dinner and then the girls spent the night! I love those two girls. They are just like my little sisters. I will miss they so much next year but I will also see them dancing and hopefully babysit when I am in town! Their mom is also so wonderful! She is such a strong woman and is doing a wonderful job of raising her 8 and 9 year old.

Thursday, I picked up my bud Jackson. We went over to Caribou for a smoothie and I got to hear more about what's going on in his life and talk to him about going into 7th grade. Big Year for him coming up!

All of the people in my life that I will be leaving behind, I will miss you all so much but I will always come back and visit. I can't wait to see you all grow as people. I love you all so much!

Getting closer to college, I keep thinking about what I am worried about. The more I think about it, I keep thinking that I will miss my mom the most. Her and I are very close. We talk about everything, no matter how embarrassing! We also love to travel together! In October of last year, she took me on a trip to New York City. We had such a wonderful time together! We did all of the touristy things together and made some great memories. Next year in school, I hope to have a lot of friends but nobody will ever be able to take the place of my mom! She is the greatest! :)
